Today, the European Court of Justice handed down its much anticipated ruling on the use of gender as a pricing
factor in insurance contracts in the Association Belge des Consommateurs Test-Achats Case.

The Court has ruled that the use of gender as a pricing factor is contrary to the principle of equality for men and women. Insurers must apply unisex premiums and benefits from 21 December 2012 onwards.
