Greg Sinfield , a partner at Lovells specialising in VAT and other indirect taxes,  will address members on the implications which could arise following the German Advocate General's opinion in a case concerning transfer of contracts and the chargeabilty of VAT. If this opinion's followed by the European Court of Justice the consequences could be very serious in that the VAT implication could have a serious impact on business transfers in the legacy market and the restructuring of large insurance portfolios ahead of Solvency II.
