Firstly I would like to convey a request from the UK Asbestos Working Party for a “call for data”. They are looking to review their UK asbestos projections and require updates from asbestos exposed carriers to assist them in this process. Please click here for more detail.

More immediately, I hope you are aware of the FSA Practice Statement (PS 11/4) issued in February which came into force on 6th March. If your company wrote UK Employers Liability business you need to notify the FSA by 6th April 2011 of your actual or potential liability and also how you are making policy data available for tracing by potential claimants. The options are to produce your own Employers Liability Register or to use an existing tracing office, such as ELTO. This is initially intended for policies entered or renewed after 1st April or for policies against which claims are made after 1st April (the latter being applicable to run-off insurers).

You may have heard me at Congress, or seen in the latest ARC Newsletter, my request for volunteers to form an EL Working Party. This is intended to provide a common discussion platform for EL run-off carriers and to address forthcoming matters such as historic policy population.
